I've done a quick search on this, but didn't find anything (gk specific)
This is something the field players just don't understand, What is your worst injury whilst playing in the pads?

for me it would be dislocated shoulder after sliding out for a 1v1, I think it was the guys knee that came through and hit me but it all happened so quick. Played out the rest of the match, but couldn't even move my arm for 2 weeks after.. even cryed when putting on a t-shirt lol

Broken big toe and dislocated middle finger on left hand. Two different tournaments.

Played with both injuries two days later.

I sublex my shoulders like it's going out of style. I once managed to pull 4 muscles in one motion. (Quad, groin, then other side hip flexor and groin) Can you say awkward walking for a while? But I think the worst was when I tore my quad. From getting hit so hard it tore the muscle.

I got hit on the knee so hard by a ball, that the bruise went from my knee to 3/4 of the way down my leg, and I now have a slight hairline fracture on my right knee....i mean very slight.

Get the odd twinge from time to time, its getting hit there again thats worrying me!!

    fractured kneecap (That hurt)
and whiplash coupled with torn trapezius muscle right down the side of my neck - that also hurt
and a broken rib (didn't hurt so much! lol)

stupid idea really isn't it, this goalkeeping lark.

Dived on my stick funny and compressed something in my wrist (meniscus I think) and had to have it in a cast for a week.

Other than that just really painful bruises on my knees from errant shots.

I made an unintentional split some years ago.
Just busy at training, stopping balls [you know how it goes ] and suddenly I trip over a ball that was lying besides me.
My left leg stood still but my right leg slipped all the way....
    Can't recommend it.

Knocked out in a 1v1 while wearing a Bauer helmet - collided with players bare shins. OPened eyes to see both Umpires and other GK stood over me.

Also, mid motion going for a smother right leg stuck completely in the turf - lower leg felt as if it had bent (below the knee and above the ankle!!!) and gave me incredible pain. Went to hospital with suspected broken leg, turned out leg was not broken but possible ligament damage. Couldnt walk properly and hospital just put me in a long tubigrip and told me to get out, tell my club coach and physio and they were amazed i wasn't given crutches!!

The worst part was sitting in my pants on a hospital bed, sweaty, in pain and cold from rain water with a very attractive female trainee doctor assessing me. she asked what happened, i explain and she replies: "But you're not big enough to be a goalie!" Pride wounded severely!!

ha i can beat that - when i was scraped off the deck when i bust my neck the paramedic was REALLY fit.
they managed to get my pads and kickers off and my chestguard but not my padded shorts... it was a really hot day so i didn't wear a tshirt... just had my sports bra under my bodyarmour

good look i can tell you!
lying in the middle of a hockey pitch, in a sports bra, padded shorts with socks up to your knees...

amazingly, even though she's got my name, address, phone number, pulse, temperature etc etc etc - she still hasn't called! lol rofl

i got my leg broken by my teacher at school!!!!

(bearing in mind she used to be a fast bowler for England Ladies Cricket team, and has a MEAN hit on her!)
She hit the hockey ball, saved it off my left leg guard, cue me falling over in agony...nice!

Separated shoulder / AC joint, torn left medial deltoid, rotator cuffs completely ftumshed... not the way to spread for a 1v1 :(
Also various muscle tears, cracked bones, multi-coloured bruises etc etc.
    Nothing fatal yet.

knocked unconscious by an undercut drive into the face (pre-helmets), concussion, broken orbit bone and nerve damage. Otherwise, ruptured ACL, but I had to work at that for 2 years to completely detatch it from the femur...on the mend now though thanks to someone who was no longer using their tissues and ligaments!

Wow, I was present during someone's ACL transplant whilst filming a documentary - it was quite an incredible operation! I couldn't believe the patient was able to get up and walk around an hour later. They used a dead person's achilles tendon, amazing people, doctors!

    Punctured Lung.

Whilst technically not from playing goals, it did puncture during the warm up of a crucial match. At the time I just thought I was having a really bad Asthma day so played the match anyway. lol
