That's nothing compared to the 100% carbon and all the other marketing nonsense some come up with!

Shinpads look ok but £35 for some plastic shinpads pretty steep.

It's expensive putting those 3 stripes on it. Adds at least 10 to shinpads, adds closer to 50 for a stick.

Here's my bow summary from a quick look today at the new sticks at HWL2017.

Ritual Specialist: Good decent XLB. My fave offering. Slim head and consistent bend.

Ritual Velocity: More similar to last year's than the Specialist. But another great looking stick.

Grays Probow Extreme: Very late, offset curve. I can see balls hitting a lot of knees & a lot of hooked drags.

Grays Jumbow S: Looks like an ordinary jumbow to me.

TK GTX: Like the old Looks Obscene bow. Similar to above; A lot of players will struggle to keep it flat.

JDH/Gryphon: No new shapes from last year

Adidas: Other than the V24, all their range have v similar low bows with the DF24 being a touch more pronounced. Still undecided on those toes.

Ordered a SW13 Jumbow Grays, the Barney the Dinasour colour scheme proved too much of a temptation.

    First I was "Woot?!"
Then I saw the details: like the lack of dots on the tongues (edited), totally different straps and the lack of split line in the LGs (even on single colored pads there's a line because of the two foams)
At least I hope the different position of the flag at the top is optical illusion.

And then there's this post with prices....

    thongs = tongues

Compare the kicker tongue in that pic vs at http://obo.co.nz/ranges/robo/hi-rebound-kickers

Interesting. How much cheaper are those prices than Obo rrp in the UK? Wonder what the foam quality is like? As you say, looks like the LGs are all single density. The closeup pictures on their website don't look great to me, especially pic 4 at http://oakleyhockey.co.uk/large-oh-kickers/ All those joins look glued together, and not particularly smoothly. Reckon it's simply a case of ripped off Obo's designs but used inferior materials?

    Yes, @sanabas spellchecked me... :D

I received spam from the subcontinent few months ago with similar design (in terms of shape, not color and branding). The prices from the factory were "different" from those offered here of course.

I would not wear them even if they are better in performance to the original. It's hard to think of something new of course, but if I was to build new brand and try to push it I would not use the stick shapes of other companies, what to speak for foam copies. Not a winning strategy for me personally, sorry Oakley....

To save you all clicking on instagram, here are some shots of the new 90 series. Only three bow shapes this year as more players move away from the traditional mid bow

I like your previous look better. I think there are far too many sticks which are black with a coloured name. They're among the better looking predominantly black sticks, but I'd still prefer something brighter. And I don't understand why practically everyone puts on a white grip as stock. White grips get very grubby very fast. I reckon they'd look better if you used red/blue/yellow stock grips to match the name's colour. Also makes them standout if they're hanging on a wall in a shop where the sticks are 80% white grips and 20% black grips.

Thanks for the feedback. Sticks lower down the range will have more colour to them and hopefully we will have the option for players to have a custom painted stick soon (no silly prices either). From feedback people either love or hate the bright colours, while most people are quite neutral on the black, so it makes more sense to go black, plus the new gradient logo is pretty colourful!

I agree with white grips, its just a problem sourcing high quality coloured grips which is why we've stuck with white. Players also get a free chamois with every stick so they tend to use that over the top anyways.

Fair enough. And yeah, certainly never going to please everyone.

I'm surprised that wherever you're sourcing high quality white grips doesn't also do coloured ones. As you say, it's a low priority because so many people will regrip any new stick to however they want it. I do the same, mine get a second cushion grip over the top of the stock grip. It's just a pet peeve of mine that everyone has white or black on everything. Especially when it's from a brand that actually sells the same cushion grips that come stock on their sticks in a range of colours. i.e. Gryphon & Mazon here.

I can't speak for other brands but they may not use the coloured one on the sticks as they are not made in the same place. I have samples of good coloured grips but huge minimum order quantities mean its not a priority for a small business right now. I'll see what can be done going forward as I do like coloured grips.

New sticks look great, @Craggsy! If my TX24 gives up at some point during the season I may treat myself to a Low 90...
