That statement is bound to kick off a 97 billion page post!

I've read the headline and formed an opinion. I have not bothered to read the whole thing. But I fail to see how any clarification on what constitutes danger can be minor... they've clearly never been on FHF!

    ;)
How else would you describe this change?
    And, as for this:
I... oops no, I mean they... they definitely have... :D

Does this mean we can bring back the Acid tops?

Minimal adjustments and clarifications from the rules currently in use; significant change to Rule 13.2 from the 2015 Rule Book that umpires have in their kit bag: a change so complex that it requires a full page of new guidance, just for this rule. Also an entirely new signal for the 23m restart - not many people have noticed that one.

Any substance to the rumour that there is 'no need' to print 2017 Rule Books?

@Diligent - the change to Rule 13.2 is only significant if you totally overlooked the change to the Rules of Hockey 2015 that was posted to the FIH website on 16 February 2016 that updated the then Rules!

To quote from the Introduction to the Rules of Hockey 2017: 'The adjustment to the free hit Rule 13.2 which was posted to the Rules section of the FIH website on 16 February 2016 to update the 2015 Rules is now formally incorporated into the Rules booklet.'

Regarding the non printing of the Rules of Hockey 2017 booklets, it is not a rumour. However, the Rules of Hockey 2017 apps for iPhones and Androids were launched in March 2017, and I hear that they had more downloads for a new 'Rules' app launch than even the Rugby Laws ones.

By the way, I think that it is still be possible for your NA to print the Rules booklets, if they so wish, provided they check this out with FIH and comply with the copyright requirements (as indicated at the end of the Rules).

@Diligent, what @Porter said re the changes. The EH guidance was written on the basis that everyone understood that 13.2 was introduced in England in 2016. Why complicate things further?

I can also confirm that the FIH Rules app is excellent. If you haven't downloaded it I recommend that you do so. It's available via this page: http://fih.ch/inside-fih/our-official-documents/rules-of-hockey/ @Porter, do you know if there are plans to bring out an indoor version too? I hope so.

Wish they would switch to the fist above head (old "add 10" signal). Easy for everyone to see and react to.

There are still players who move to take long corners. Let's just use the signals we already know instead of confusing more people.

The new signal seems to working perfectly well at FIH level. No one is confused by it. It's fine.

It's worked perfectly well up in Scotland ever since we started using the 2017 book, at the beginning of 2017...

We've been using it in the English National League since then too. I don't think the players have even noticed.

@redumpire - re a Rules of Indoor Hockey app, I do not know if there will be one, but it would certainly seem to be a natural progression! Although in the Rules of Hockey app, via the Info tab, there is a Useful Links section to all other Rules sets, including the Rules of Indoor Hockey.

No that would mean I posted "Down with transparent governance and anti-corruption strategies", then took a hefty bribe and went back to my Swiss mountain chalet.

I mean, I really am fine with that, but i don't currently have those avenues open to me.

    Here, here!*

    DOWN WITH THE 21ST CENTURY

We need to form a breakaway national association so we can have sovereignty over our rules again. Bring back cane goalkeeper leggings and grass pitches.

    *I know. It's ironic.

We should declare British Hockey independent of European or international control. Let's claim back our sport from the foreign bureaucrats. I want to elect my own players and rules like the good old days.

I'll hire a bus. We can write on the side how much England Hockey pay to the FIH.
