Maybe its just me being too haphazard with it, I just kept finding that with my old one if it was compressed even slightly when it wasn't completely empty I ended up with wet kit/car so I stopped using it :(

I never used to store in my bag though, also I used to push it down and twist too

I have one of these and it's amazing. Never let me down really. The top bit has flew off a few times after being hit but the bottle survives itself.

I’ve got two of these and I have the same problem with both, they never quite seem to close properly. I don’t store mine in my kit bag, I carry it separately, so only my car boot gets wet if it leaks.

    Me too.
I've got a couple of the STX bottles from BArringtons. They seem ok as long as they aren't super squashed. Easier to drink out of if you're still wearing your helmet.... https://www.barringtonsports.com/products/stx-hockey-waterbottle-with-straw-2015/25432/view

The CambelBak one I linked has a twist lock system preventing it from leaking. It's survived being squashed in bags many a time.
