Where can I find pad covers in the UK? The usual shops don't have them at the mo
Just make your own. A lot cheaper and just as good.
It has been discussed before somewhere here on FHF.
I bought some a few years ago from Verbunt hockey - fit over my OBO's no worries.
Folmer I did make my own before but went horribly wrong and kept coming off so decided to go for pre-made ones.
freebird the verbunt ones are the ones I was looking at tho i was hoping a uk shop might have them
i Just bought a pair of pillow cases and put a couple of small slits on one side for the straps to go through and a larger one on the other for the buckles. works a treat on hi rebounds
They must be pretty big pillow cases.
I don't know where to get them, but I've seen some keepers with Obo branded covers. They're apparently made for HR's.
Thought I'd resurect this thread rather than start a new one.
Does anyone think that the Brabo indoor pad covers fit over the Obo HiControl Robo's?
I know Mercian have just brought out a prototype pad cover, as seen here on Reading's Jamie Legg - http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...08663790.91209.143037619079362&type=1&theater.
Pad covers is such English thing I have never seen anyone exept the english keepers and maybe one dutch use them internationally.
I think I would just sacrifice an old pair of legguards and glue the fabric straight on to the legguards instead.
deinately English.. hardly any Scottish keepers use them at all.. think I've seen 1 or 2 keepers with them! Personally, I dont think you need them, its all about technique.. get that sorted, and you dont need them at all!!
Nic, have any of the indoor keepers swithched to OGO pads and kickers? I'm thinking that the light weight may well be an advantage.
Would you really want to go down to level 2 in terms of protection? I remember reading somewhere, quite possibly from NicfromSweden, that he had tried Yahoo kickers and legs for indoor, but the kickers weren't up to it?
No I have not seen anyone go down in level of protection, I used yahoo kickers and legguards when I started playing senior hockey both indoor and outdoor while the kickers were not good enough the legguards were. I played with a Hi-control kickers and yahoo legguards combo for quite some time and never had any problem indoor or outdoor. The reason I would not use the legguards now is because 1 I can afford to use Hi-rebounds and 2 I think I benefit from the extra width.
To be honest I do think OGO legguards would be up for it and I would not be afraid to use them in senior hockey myself with that said if they made a pair in the Hi-Rebound shape in a lightweight foam I think I would be interested.
Would be interesting to see if OBO would create indoor pads again.
I do not think so because there is only a few countries where indoor is the main game and most keepers can barely afford one high level kit let alone a second pair of foam. With that said I know of quite a few keeper who used the indoor legguards and I tried them as well and they were good but not the right shape for me. I nearly bought a pair many years ago in the sale.
If I were to design a pair of indoor pads I would probably try to make them covered with some fabric or other material that work well with indoor surfaces.
Created a pad topic if you have some input my friend on there already a cover or skin to allow the pad to skid and creating less friction!
