FRANCE SENIOR MEN: Men’s 5 Nations INSEP Hockey Challenge

The inaugural INSEP Hockey Challenge will take place from 24 to 29 of August in Paris.
This official FIH invitational tournament gathers a quality field of 5 nations in Malaysia, France, Ireland,
Poland and Scotland and is being organised in partnership with INSEP (the French National Sports
    Institute).
The tournament also will act as the inauguration of the new hockey facility at INSEP, the construction
of which was completed in late 2009, and a ceremony will be held on 27 August at 18h30 to mark this
    important landmark for France hockey.
    ...
There is also a high performance objective with the hosts, France in their own tournament. In July,
France played four top 10 teams, being India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Spain, with Les Bleus
looking to take the development and form from these games into the INSEP Hockey Challenge.
    ...
France is currently ranked 17 in the world. Malaysia is the top ranked team at the tournament (15),
and will face strong opposition from Ireland (18), Poland (19) and Scotland (23).
The 2010 tournament is the first of what is expected to be an annual event. “There are very few
annual invitational international events in the world, and we want the INSEP Hockey Challenge to be
at the top of the list of prestigious events that the world’s top teams will want to attend,†said Head
Coach Scott GOODHEART. “With such support from INSEP, we are confident that this tournament
will just be the tip of the iceberg for what will be a regular event on the international hockey calendar,â€
    he said.

Europe is good destination for budding hockey players. doesnt matter be it France, Belgium or Italy

They have the club structure, fixed domestic season and schedule.... something Asia is very lacking.
As long as there is structure, the player will benefit from the stint.

Too bad that Malaysian players are so stuck with the full time training program. It doesn't benefit them much in the long run.

I wish i can help Alexei!
But it's pretty tough for non-europeans (mostly from Asia and Africa) to get long visas...
We had bad experience with visas for egyptian players few years ago.

    No point helping.
    I gave up as well.

Our National Coaching setup is so stuck with the idea of full time training.
And they even have 'Trust' problems as well.
They think if the players are there in Europe, they'll ignore their fitness routine and come home half-fit! :baffled:
