Hi guys, I will be travelling for work in January 2012 - April 2012 and wanted to see if there are any hockey clubs in the area playing or training during this time.

If people know of any good clubs, please let me know. I am playing top league in Melbourne.

    Cheers:)

    How do.

There are a few guys who play in Singapore lurking around the forum. I'm not sure that the dates have been announced for play next season which obviously affects training etc. but if there is any hockey underway I am sure that the Tornados will be more than happy to welcome you along. Its a mixed ability, mixed aged, mixed nationality club which has the claim of being the only club dedicated solely to hockey in Singapore. All the others have an affiliation to another sport or association of some description.

To give you an idea you can have a look at www.tornadoshockey.org.sg/

For note the organisation of the leagues in Singapore is a little strange, to participate in the Premier Division a club has to have a high number of Singaporeans in the team or a dedicated U21 side. This causes lots of teams problems and you will find that there isn't as much difference between the premier and division 1 teams as there would be in other countries.

The following site might give you more of an idea about the set up. (but I doubt it)

Further to John's message the league season will start in February.
You will need a work permit/employment pass to be eligible to play in the league

I always wonder how on earth you can be patient playing in the league? ;)
I already have serious doubts of going down south if they ask me to. :p

We know there isn't anything we can do about it. The standard is poor and we know we will get the worst of it not being a local club.

All we can do is play and hope it changes. Looks like they are finally relaxing the foreigner rule to allow the Dutch club to play in the prem this season.

heard they wanted to refuse the promotion but the last team that did that got relegated to the bottom league.
They are supposed to go up with SRC 2's. that left only 3 teams in Div 1 so 5 Div2 teams have gone up. Means us and SCC will both have 2 Div 1 teams

certainly wouldn't want to umpire a game between the Dutch and a local Prem team. Clash of hockey styles. Clash of Dutch over physical style against local dirty stick style.
    would be interesting for sure.
