One thing that seemed a problem is the 40 seconds for a goal. 3 late goals in about a minute and the centre pass delays seemed to drain the momentum.

Heaven forbid anyone not acting likes it LeaValley Funeral Home........those Euro Rascals actually creating an atmosphere is totally disgraceful and wholly unacceptable.
I mean, thats not how we've taught, Hettie, Hugo, Fenella and Fabricius, Balthazar and Clementine to watch sport.

No it's just bad manners and disrespectful to other spectators. Pen them up in their own area away from hockey fans and let's see the hockey.

Not on the continent pal - part and parcel of the atmosphere. As a first time spectator abroad, i think you've gone in with a pretty poor view.
You won't win this one, having been on both sides of the fence at EHL, its amazing what the fans can do - and to be honest, those who share your view are best left rotting at LeaValley.

Hate to agree with Mani (just kidding), but if you're sitting with fan of a team playing full expect them to jump around and stand up. Most of my time at EHL has been standing up enjoying the atmosphere.

But without the 40 sec break after the first goal they probably wouldn't have had an opportunity to score the subsequent goals, as the Germans would have taken ages to re-start the game...? (Sorry to add to the @Ravennghorde piley-on...!)

Fortunately the yobs haven't turned up to the Wimbledon match. Normal service is resumed.

Hockey in the UK needs to shed its 'jolly hockey sticks/middle class/rah rah' image - your opinion is one firmly cemented as those who perpetuate that image and philosophy.
You are in Europe for the first time watching hockey, this is what happens at the EHL, they are not YOBS, they are the passionate fans that make the EHL what it is.
The fact you call them yobs is disappointing and 'oh so British'.

    Passionate? Maybe. For being yobs.

Anyway 2nd match was to my taste.

Wimbledon were soundly beaten but it was a fantastic experience being there to watch it.

Genuinely impressed with the number of Wimbledon fans who made the trip. Can't wait until tomorrow.

Flares, chants, and irreverant songs is what sport is all about

It might actually help you gave a bit more detail rather than just, they stood up.

Why are they 'yobs' ? What did they do? What was the problem? Did others around you have a problem?

EHL can get a bit lively But I've never experienced any behaviour which would have me moaning online about 'yobs'

Flares, banned by ground rules, don't know if RHL overruled that and allowed them. Fans, older teenagers, constantly standing and blocking the view and not responding to the stewards. No biggy. I sat where there was space and didn't consider the possibility of unruly neighbours.

I'm not saying they 'should' be the norm...im saying they are the norm on the continent. You don't get people turning up their noses at the younger more passionate sections. Well, certainly not like a tourist would!

I'm genuinely gutted for the Dons.

8-0 is a horrible result and shows how 2 players missing in Arnold and Hoare are difficult to replace in the UK, and i feel that OR would not struggle as much.
Lets hope they pick themselves up tomorrow.

Made it here with a friend and between us we have been to three round 1s, three KO16/8 and three KO4 tournaments and we have to admit today was by far the most 'civilised' atmosphere we have seen at the EHL.

If I was being picky a few of the flare caps ended up on the pitch before the Dragons game. #justsayin

Excellent finish. And Dragons fans were subdued, surprisingly so for the home team.

I felt that the rhythm of 3 goals in 1 playing minute was disrupted by 2 minutes of waiting for centre passes.

Well, I'm over in Antwerp for the Final 4 from the UK too (more specifically, the North ).

After an mostly enjoyable day of hockey, despite a lack-lustre Wimbledon effort, we are watching the Champions League Final in our delightful AirBnB apartment. The balcony doors are open, all the while this bottle of full bodied Italian red is going down a treat.

Interesting to see Rot Weis brought in extra coaching staff for the final 4 in the form of Jamilon Mulders. Wonder if Bobby or Danny could have made a difference for Wimbledon (or Mike Hoare being fit).
