Wimbledon win EHL - 100 points
Wimbledon area is chic and trendy - 20 points
House prices are insane - 50 points
    English exceptionalism - 500 points
    Henry Weir's haircut - 10 points

So by my calculations, we should have about five teams in the competition next season.

We are and will remain quite some way off getting 3 teams. Spain were big points scorers last time out and with the last 3 years of points taken into consideration that will keep us at 2 for the next few years at least.

We desperately need both EHL qualifying teams consistently in KO8 and Finals to bridge the gap to Spain.

Henry has that haircut because he plays for a club that realises he has a life outside of hockey. If he played for another club in the Premier League it would be much more sensible.....

In case that is not sarcastic I am referring to Henry's interesting interview with England Hockey on 4th April. I am not connected to Wimbledon and I'm just being a little bit cheeky. Any 1st team player who when injured turns up to sell match day programmes and chat with home and away supporters as Henry did a few weeks back isn't doing a lot wrong in my book.

Thanks @redumpire. If my calculations are correct...

    Spain - 29.3
    England - 24.75

So Wimbledon need to pick up 5 points from their final 2 matches - see points application below (points are picked up in the 3rd/4th playoff).

For each match played, the following EHL ranking points will be applied:

    Win: 5 points
    Draw: 2 points
Loss with goal difference of no more than 2: 1 point
Loss with more than 2 goals between the teams: 0 points

Should any classification match that ends in a draw go to a shoot-out competition, then the winner of that shoot-out competition shall receive 1 bonus point, in addition to the points which it has earned from the draw.

In addition the National Association of the clubs contesting the EHL Final will be awarded additional

    EHL ranking points as follows:
    Winning club: 5 points
    Runner-up: 3 points

But the points all slide back a year, so those from 13/14 disappear; those from 14/15 are only worth 25% rather than 50%; those from 15/16 are worth 50% rather than 100% and so on. Plus, none of the 16/17 points have been added in yet and Spain had two teams in KO16 to our one; so, it's a bit more complicated than just adding this year's points to the total...

I get the same current points result as ironman including rolling back 14/15 (applying 25%) and 15/16 applying (50%), I make it that the Spanish scored 11 points in the KO16 and 1 in the KO 8. Their total is now capped for the EHL 17/18 and Wimbledon can score a maximum of 10 points. The only point I would disagree with ironman on is that Wimbledon need to score 10 points as the points scored have to be divided by the number of the teams in the competition and England had 2.

So if Wimbledon do the business and get the necessary points for England to get an extra team, can someone refresh my memory as to the criteria on which EH award the third place ??

They're actually doing a 3rd/4th playoff place this weekend.

I believe it's a combination of Bake Off results, a public vote and the general election.

Sorry, didn't need to include all the matches, but someone might find it helpful! Needless to say I'm there from the first match to the last, if anybody wants to say hello.

Wimbledon are guaranteed an EHL place as league winners. So if they lose their semi this Sat they will automatically get the third place, meaning a 3/4 game is unnecessary.

If ENG end up with only two places then the overall winners this weekend will get one place and Wimbledon the second...

    Does that make sense?
