Oh dear. Not a great day for English clubs in the EHL. P3, L3. I understand that there's a real possibility of the Spanish sides registering enough points in the remaining games to overtake the English points total, meaning that we'd drop to just 2 teams in the competition next season...

I don't think there is any hope of England staying above Spain. IIRC they lose the points Reading gained in 10-11 in finishing 3rd. Plus, the 3rd Spanish side will probably walk all over the 2nd tier comp they will be in this year (Wales got more points from their team winning tier 2 comp than Ireland did with Garvey getting to last 16 last year).

Anyway, is it a surprise? If the England captain (and other internationals) deem it acceptable to play in the lower leagues then why should we expect the "top" England teams to do well in Europe? After watching the mens and womens playoffs these last two weeks, the standard is just not good enough in this country.

Anyway, light at the end of the tunnel, for first time since the turm of the millenium I reckon we have got a bunch of kids coming through who could get us back on track.
It will be interesting to see how the NAGS perform in their Easter internationals.

The referral was ridiculous, I can't see it ever going any other way haha.

He was a bit unlucky with the goal though, it did manage to find the rather ball shaped hole between the pad and the post!

He said he was pushed and therefore could not make a save however in the video you can see there is not much of a push and if you count it as pushing then he is the one pushing the player with his glove.

Harvestehuder did the business. Great equalisers and lovely saves from their keeper in the last few minutes to keep them in it. I'd say Walter was the man of the match. excellent performance.
Phew. what a weekend of hockey.

No, was only there for the KO16's. Thought I'd get away with not being on the big screen - Sadly not!!

Incidentally - does anyone know if the full games are kept anywhere?

1st game up and standard of play is not so good but the umpiring.....

Have they forgotten they have mic's on?

Attacking side want a referral, 2 umpires have a chat first.....

    Un-engaged umpire
"I saw an attackers foot so free hit defence"

    Engaged umpire
"Well they're (defence) not complaining so we will (ignore it)"

Ended up as a PC though replays show only the attackers foot. Really surprised they didn't go to an umpires referral given that one was adamant is it was a hit out and the other had given a PC. Are umpire referrals not in play here?

PS given earlier (correctly IMHO), video umpire agrees with PS as the stick was touched in the act of shooting. That rule is on p 9.75

..and in the last minute, the PS that wasn't given ..... the french defender simply pushes the forward who (was in the circle in possession) over. PC for deliberately pushing the player over.

Standard wasn't great, but the excitement was there. Egara definately deserved the win, but hats off to St Germain for the defensive work.

Push in the circle should have been a PS imo. Looked to me as a deliberate foul on an attacker in the circle.
