After the success of last years' epic session with @Fortitude Hockey, I've decided to get my organising hat on for 2 summer sessions. They will take place at Abbeywood School, Bristol run on the following dates running 10am to 4pm (same as last year).

    Sat 19th August - 3 spaces left!

Please email me at adamgwhitlock@hotmail.co.uk to reserve a space, letting me know which session(s) you'd like to attend. It'll be first out the hat (email inbox) to go on the list.

Edit 29/7/17 - tidied this post a bit.

Why do they always have to be across the country for me!

Might have to look in organising one closer to home for me....

I did look tbh. Depends on how much the session will cost as well though.

If the sessions are full, it'll be a touch over £40. I can't give an exact cost right now as I'm simply hiring the pitch and paying the coach then dividing that by how many people sign up. It's always really annoying to be told we need to use public transport then go to buy a ticket and find you have to sell everything you own to buy it.

If the train ticket does turn out to cost more than the GDP of a small country, organising your own session isn't too painful and Tom, the coach, is a really helpful guy. Drop me a line if you want a hand.

@Badger666 I'm game for sorting out one in the South East (Essex) I guess that will be much closer for you?

Oy, stop nickin' my punters.... :p

Now I've stopped being silly, I think the more we organise the better. I was genuinely shocked that people travelled from Coventry, London and Liverpool to the session last year. It shows how much of an abandoned group we are. Big up the revolution!

I mean I'd love to make it, and it's not far from the rail station anyway. I'll just have to wait until i have the cash to do this, which sadly will be a while away. But cheers @Beardymanbristol ill see how it goes and hopefully I'll head over to Bristol.

@AndyGaut well I mean, I'm west London, so even Essex is a trek for me ;) I was thinking more in London itself, but I'm just getting lazy. If I can't make the Bristol one would definitely be up for trying to organise something closer.

@Badger666 how about looking into booking the Lea Valley pitch for a Sunday? Would that be a good compromise?

It takes less time to get to Bristol than it does to get to Stratford from West London!

Disclaimer: @Krebsy is not on commission from me :) but I do like his logic.

@Badger666 I won't need to collect any money until the pitch hire people ask for it (usually 2 weeks) before so no need to worry about money right now, if that's any help. Drop me your email and I'll keep you posted so at least you'll have a chance to say yes or no nearer the time. I'm genuinely not trying pressure you into coming, just trying to be helpful :)

It's true, it's not difficult to organise a session. Negotiate with @FortitudeHockey for a suitable date, book the pitch, publicise it. Cost = (cost of coaches + pitch fee) / no of attendees, bearing in mind a coaching ratio of 1:6.

It's surprising how far people will travel to a goalee coaching session, I had people from North Wales, Cheshire and Leeds coming to Notts. Pitch with easy transport links is probably best, but I got staff discount on the pitch at the school I work at!

@AndyGaut I'm sure we could work something out!

@Beardymanbristol oh no, no worries! I'm keen to make it if I can. I'm just well aware the misses knows I've spent money on new kit recently and if I don't have enough for a holiday cause I went across the country for more hockey she might decide to skin me haha. I'll drop you a pm though.

I'll express some interest. June 11th is GB vs Netherlands in London though, so if I can get tickets to that, I'll probably look at the other dates.

Scratch that. I've just looked on googlemaps and the distance is a little further than I'd thought. :(

Just bumping this a bit :)
I'm looking for more people for June and July especially, it really helps keep the cost down and makes for a really good day.
