So I have begun planning the 2012 event.

Going to move it me thinks from a 2 consecutive sundays to a sat/sun on the same weekend. This will hopefully attract a few teams from outside the Hunter/Sydney area as it cuts down on travel.

Will keep the place updated as I set the dates and format etc over the coming weeks.

    Dates are booked in, confirmed.

    Sat 10th, Sun 11th March 2012.

Clubs will be notified in due course.

I would love to see one of the big clubs from Melb or Brisbane make the journey to Newcastle for the competition, a chance to mix it with some of the big clubs from Sydney (in recent years we have had Glebe, GNS, UTS, Ryde compete) and the ebst Newcastle and the Hunter region can offer. Anyone who thinks thier club might be keen, get the secretary to email me or msg me here.

    Nominated so far:

    MEN
Hunter Coast Premier League - Souths, Norths, West, Maitland, University, Gosford
Sydney Premier: Ryde, UTS, Gordon/North Sydney
    Tamworth: Services Workies

    WOMEN
    Newcastle: Souths, Regals, Central, University
Sydney: UTS, Gordon/North Sydney, Sydney Uni

More clubs are being approached to fill vacancies. Happy for 1st grade sides to contact me if they are keen to compete. Flights in and out of Newcastle are good value these days, great opportunity for a Melbourne or Brisbane club to have a pre season bonding session by coming to the event.

It all fires up this weekend.

TEAM SPORTS has come on board for another season as sponsor. Great to see.

This years event will also raise some funds for Hunter Power Conference, the monies used to help up and coming junior umpires, junior officials and junior players to take the next step and get the training they need to achieve thier goals.

    hopefully the weather is kind.

Congratulations to Ryde Hockey Club who secured thier 3rd Straight Hunter Power Cup title in the mens division, with a 3-1 win over the NSW U18 state side. Was a great weekend of hockey with plenty of close games and plenty of skill on offer.

The NSW U18 Womens State Side clinched thier maiden title with a 2-0 victory over Sydney University who were also competing in thier first event. The womens comp was also exciting, and a few games were surprisngly higher skilled then a lot of the spectators were expecting.

Another successful season. Big thanks to TEAM SPORTS surfaces for thier continued support of the event.

Would love to see a Melb or Brissy club compete in the 2013 event.
