I took a big leap when buying this stick as it was the first stick I have ever bought without trying one prior to purchase and it was worth it. Prior to this stick I had used 3 consecutive Adidas DF24s and then a GR AJ7 Probow, somehow Y1 have managed to make something with a huge amount of power and still maintain a great feel that lower carbon sticks like my AJ7 have.

Features/ selling points (from Y1 website):

A redesigned and slightly thinned head profile allowing you to get under the ball more easily. It has the Y1 'dynamic bow' for the perfect slingshot action when drag flicking which makes it the obvious choice for drag flickers and aerial specialists.
    • Premium Japanese Carbon

    • ‘Shaved’ head design for ease of 3D skills on the move and reverse lifting.

    • Y1 ‘Recurved toe’ design for easy picking on the reverse and 3D skills.

    • Y1 'Dynamic bow' specifically designed for drag flickers.

    • Bristled High control area on head (HCA).

    • 90% Premium Japanese Carbon / 10% Aramid/Fibreglass

So what do I think of my first stick without a groove or concave face for 4 years?

    Hitting / Slapping?

As I have alluded to, hitting provides all the power you could ask for while maintaining an impressive amount of feel. Obviously as with any low bow, technique must be adjusted if coming from a mid bow to keep the ball flat

    Aerials and Skills?

Aerials and 3D skills are effortless thanks to the low bow, thin head, thin hook and the great feel. No trouble lifting the ball and performing drags.

    Drag Flicking?

Not had much chance to practice drag flicking yet as we’re between seasons, but so far its really good.

It looks fantastic and plays brilliantly for such a high carbon stick! I also don't miss the concave face of the DF24 or rail on the AJ7, not having the ball bounce of in odd directions when not trapped perfectly is nice.

Although I may be sponsored by Y1, I would still highly recommend this stick if I wasn’t. I may also be biased as it bagged me two goals in its first outing! :D Also scored a fair few yesterday at a camp in front of Phil Roper and Tom Carson

(I know I have mentioned the feel a lot, but it’s seriously impressive:eek:)

But have they fixed the fragility issue from last season? Guess only time will tell... I hope so. They sure look the business.

Apparently - Yes . They switched manufacturers. Somehow despite my experience last year with the LB Braid breakage, I was encouraged by their open honesty ref to last year issues when I contacted them regarding the 2017-18 range and and picked up the LBX from The Hockey Centre. (Woking, UK) . NB it is bloody awesome.

As an owner of the LBX version, I highly endorse this review - It is an awesome stick.... and I am in no way sponsored either. All my own hard earned credit card borrowing...lol!

Looks great! What would you say the weight is comparable to? I've heard they're pretty similar to the Rituals (i.e. very, very light) which has always put me off.

It feels a bit heavier than my Rio DF24 carbon, 2016/17 Ritual Revolution and GR AJ7 and feels about the same as my JDH APX 795 XLB

Does anyone have any information on the bow profile for the LBX? Been looking everywhere but can't seem to find anything. I've had 2 Osaka Protobows most recently and was looking for something with a bow similar to this

Without being precise nor have the actual facts, i can only confirm from personal experience myself of switching from a Osaka Proto bow , tour edition to the LBX that it is really fairly similar.
